Job description

Job Title: Surgical Services Support Technician

The Surgical Services Support Technician may perform assigned tasks which directly contribute to the care of patients and other patient-related services under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse or Clinician. Provide support to the staff to facilitate case flow within Surgical Services.

Responsibilities:

1. Communication and Support: Establish effective communication strategies, support departmental changes, perform patient care skills with a preceptor (RN) safely according to policies, receive and incorporate feedback, and promote a safe environment for patient safety and recovery. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the department and OR rooms.
2. Assistance and Equipment Management: Assist with patient positioning, transporting specimens, opening supplies, maintaining specialty equipment, setting up instrument trays, and checking for equipment issues. Communicate effectively with OR staff to prioritize daily assignments. Remain accessible in ORs and assist with patient movement.
3. Compliance and Safety: Follow all policies related to patient care and hospital information, adhere to safety protocols, report equipment issues, and provide patient/family education as needed.
4. Additional Duties: Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies and behaviors. Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: No weekends or holidays; applicant must take one weekend of call per month, Saturday & Sunday 0700-1530.
