Job Title: Surgical Services Support Technician

The Surgical Services Support Technician performs tasks that contribute to patient care and other patient-related services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Clinician. The role includes supporting staff to facilitate case flow within Surgical Services.

Responsibilities:

1. Communication and Professional Development: Establish effective communication strategies, suggest and support departmental changes, perform patient care skills with a preceptor, receive feedback constructively, identify learning needs, and seek intervention when necessary. Maintain an environment conducive to patient safety and recovery by completing safety checks, keeping the environment clean and organized, and ensuring equipment is maintained and available.
2. Patient and Equipment Support: Assist with patient positioning, transport specimens, open supplies, and maintain sterile fields. Care for specialty equipment, assist with instrument tray setup, and communicate effectively with OR staff. Remain accessible in the OR, assist with patient movement, and ensure timely completion of tasks following policies and safety procedures. Provide patient and family education as needed.
3. Additional Duties: Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies and behaviors. Perform other duties as assigned.
