Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is seeking a Surgical Services Support Technician to help create a safe and sterile environment for surgical operations and other procedures. You will gain hands-on medical knowledge through exposure to robotic and colorectal surgeries, liver and pancreatic resections. A caregiver in this role works evenings from 3:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport patients to designated areas per nursing requests.
• Assist nursing caregivers during surgical cases as requested.
• Maintain and control support services equipment and supplies.
• Maintain the OR in an aesthetically safe and sanitary condition.
• Enter job tasks into electronic computer software systems.
• Assist in prepping and shaving patients for surgery.
• Coordinate and maintain uniform room activities, such as locker assignments and scrubs.
• Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
• Comply with special cleaning requests for radioactive waste and infection control surgical cases.

A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. with on-call requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Safely transport patients to designated areas per nursing requests.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross within new hire period
• One year of customer service experience and working in a team environment
• Must be able to empathize and recognize with patients suffering from physical or emotional difficulties and be sensitive to patient needs
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including ability to lift and/or bear the weight of 100 pounds with assistance, or more while pulling, lifting, pushing and transferring patients to and from various apparatus; regularly pushes moderate to heavy weight of 100 pounds or more.
• Exposure to body fluids.
• Must be available for flexible scheduling according to the needs of the surgical area.
• Floating may be expected per assignment policies within the surgical support department.

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  
  

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $18.50

Maximum hourly: $25.20
