Job summary

Dartmouth Health is seeking an Environmental Services Tech to support the perioperative team by cleaning and preparing spaces to ensure patient safety and adherence to regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include cleaning perioperative areas, handling regulated waste, assisting with case setup, and maintaining documentation and supplies under supervision. Strong communication and ability to work in a high‑stress environment are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to anticipate, prioritize, and coordinate work in a high stress environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to obtain BLS within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with the peri-operative team to ensure efficient and safe workflows within the perioperative space adhering to current hospital and regulatory standards.
• Performs environmental cleaning processes for all Perioperative areas including procedural and non-procedural spaces, restricted and semi-restricted spaces and all equipment contained therein following regulatory standards.
• Removes and cleans unneeded equipment from PACU/OR/CSR and ensures trash and contaminated linens and instruments are properly handled and sent to appropriate destination.
• Handles blood, tissue, bodily fluids, recyclables and other materials safely.
• Reports all faulty equipment to supervisor.
• Inventories and obtains supplies and equipment needed in real time or in prep for upcoming patients to set up rooms for upcoming patients.
• Under the direction of the primary nurse, will assist with patient preparation/positioning prior to the beginning of surgery.
• Will provide post-surgical nutrition and patient transport outside of the department under the direction of the primary nurse/charge nurse.
• Maintains required daily temperature logs and other tracking logs.
