Job summary

Wallowa Memorial Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Surgical Services Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive care across surgical, endoscopy, pre-operative and PACU settings in Wallowa County. The RN will support patient preparation, intraoperative coordination and recovery while ensuring clear communication with the surgical team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
• Current BLS/CPR and ACLS certification required.
• Completion of Peri-Op 101 preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficient in the use of electronic health records and related computer systems.
• Passion for working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care across diverse populations.
• Ability to meet the physical and functional requirements outlined in the job description.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of criminal background check, drug screening and reference checks.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct, age-appropriate care in surgical, endoscopy, pre-op and PACU environments.
• Communicating continuously with surgeons and anesthesia providers regarding patient status.
• Monitoring, positioning and assisting patients during procedures.
• Preparing and educating patients for surgical experiences and post-anesthesia care.
• Supporting patients through the transition from anesthesia to full responsiveness and discharge readiness.
• Assisting with surgery admissions, scheduling and coordinating pre-op visits.
• Administering moderate sedation for minor procedures (as trained and authorized).
• Ensuring surgical suites are properly equipped and stocked for procedures.
• Participating in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
