Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking a dedicated Surgical Services Assistant for our Operating Room in Louisville, KY. The full-time role supports surgeons, nurses, and perioperative staff, ensuring clean rooms, sterile equipment, and smooth patient positioning throughout the procedure.

Responsibilities include room setup, patient transport, and post-procedure turnover. OR experience is preferred; BCLS and Hana Table competency are required within 90 days of hire. On-call flexibility is a plus.

Surgical Services Assistant (Operating Room)

40 Hours Weekly, Full Time, First Shift (Mon-Fri 9am-5:30pm)

Join our Operating Room team and help provide safe, efficient patient care throughout the surgical experience.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare operating rooms, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Assist with patient transport, transfers, and positioning.
• Support surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and surgical technologists during procedures.
• Assist with room turnover, stocking supplies, and maintaining clean, organized work areas.
• Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and equipment safety standards.

HANA Table

Experience with the HANA Surgical Table is highly preferred. This role supports orthopedic procedures by:

• Setting up and operating the HANA table and accessories.
• Assisting with safe patient positioning and transfers.
• Monitoring patient safety during table movement and positioning.
• Cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining HANA equipment.
• Supporting surgeons and the perioperative team during orthopedic procedures.
• Participating in HANA table call coverage.

Physical Requirements

• Possess the strength, stamina, manual dexterity, and visual acuity needed to work safely in a busy operating room environment.
