Job summary

Pinellas Center for Special Surgery in Florida is seeking a PRN Surgical Scrub Technologist to join a skilled surgical team. The role involves scrubbing for procedures, maintaining sterile fields and preparing instruments, supplies and equipment as needed.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, surgical technician training, and relevant state certification. Prior ambulatory surgery center experience and strong teamwork are highly valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED; Surgical Technician Program or equivalent experience.
• Certification as required by state/center.
• Ambulatory surgical center experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and patient management.
• Aseptic technique understanding and implementation.
• Adaptability to changing patient conditions.
• Teamwork and communication with staff, patients and physicians.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs for surgical procedures as part of the surgical team.
• Maintains a sterile field during procedures.
• Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment related to procedures.
• Supports quality improvement activities within the center.

Education

The Center for Special Surgery provides a wide variety of care in the following services: orthopedics, sports medicine, spine, pain, podiatry, and now offering outpatient total joint replacement. Our highly trained, experienced and respected physicians take pride in all aspects of patient care.

PRN Surgical Technologist/Scrub Tech at Pinellas Center for Special Surgery

The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Maintains a sterile field during surgical procedures. Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED; completion of a Surgical Technician Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Certification as required by state and/or center
• Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center is strongly preferred
• Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
• Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
• Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
• Must excel in teamwork and possess strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff, engage with patients, and coordinate with physicians
