Job summary

Pain Diagnostic and Treatment Center in California is seeking a full-time Surgical Scrub Tech to support the operating room team and maintain a sterile field throughout procedures. The role reports to the Clinical Director/Administrator and participates in sterile processing as part of the surgical team.

Ideal candidates have one year of scrub tech experience, familiarity with surgical terminology, and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• One year experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties or equivalent.
• Ability to handle problems with a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• General familiarity with medical terminology for surgical procedures in an operating room.

Responsibilities

• Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures.
• Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment.
• Assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment.
• Responsible for sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operative with the circulating nurse.
• Retains specimens to be sent to pathology and confirms source/name with the surgeon.
• Follows Universal Precautions, hand hygiene, PPE, and safe practices for personal safety and a safe environment.
• Follows equipment and safety guidelines and cares for equipment.

Anticipates the needs of the surgical team. Establishes and maintains sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room. Reporting Relationship: Reports to Clinical Director/Administrator

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
• Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment.

Required Skills:

• Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
• General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room

Salary Range: $28.00 - $50.00/hr.
