Description

The Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for scheduling inpatient and ambulatory surgeries and procedures and follow‑up appointments for patients. Obtains pre‑authorizations for procedures and diagnostic tests as requested by the physician.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate all OR surgeries and procedures.
  • Verify patient demographics and obtain pre‑certification from insurance carriers for all surgeries and procedures.
  • Record hospital reservation and pre‑admit data in the prevailing institutional system.
  • Arrange patient pre‑testing with appropriate departments and obtain patient medical clearance.
  • Make surgical confirmation calls in advance of scheduled surgery or procedure date.
  • Act as liaison between referring physicians and surgeons for communication of clinical data and to determine OR scheduling.
  • Collect and distribute appropriate paperwork to internal and external parties to coordinate surgeries.
  • Schedule post‑operative follow‑up visits with providers.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma. Associate's Degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of surgical scheduling experience.
  • Certificate in Medical Terminology preferred.
  • Certificate in ICD‑9 and CPT coding preferred.

Compensation

Salary range: $19.02 to $28.53 hourly. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and operational need. The range does not include bonuses, incentives, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
