Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Scheduling Coordinator to manage inpatient and ambulatory surgeries, pre-authorizations, and follow-up appointments. The role requires meticulous coordination across departments and external providers.

Responsibilities include coordinating all OR scheduling, verifying demographics, arranging pre-testing and medical clearance, and communicating with physicians. This position supports Mount Sinai West and related facilities, with competitive hourly

Qualifications

  • High School diploma; Associates Degree preferred.
  • 2 years of surgical scheduling experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all OR surgeries and procedures.
  • Verify patient demographics and obtain pre-certification from insurance carriers.
  • Record hospital reservations and pre-admit data.
  • Arrange patient pre-testing and obtain medical clearance.
  • Place surgical confirmation calls when applicable.
  • Act as a liaison between referring physicians and surgeons for scheduling and data sharing.
  • Distribute required paperwork to coordinate surgeries with internal/external parties.
  • Schedule post-operative follow-up visits with providers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

The Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for scheduling inpatient and ambulatory surgeries and procedures and follow-up appointments for patients. Obtains pre-authorizations for procedures and diagnostic tests as requested by the physician.

1. Responsible for the coordination of all OR surgeries and procedures.

2. Verifies patient demographics and obtains pre-certification from insurance carriers for all OR surgeries and procedures.

3. Records hospital reservation and pre-admit data in prevailing institutional system.

4. Arranges patient pre-testing with appropriate departments and is responsible for obtaining patient medical clearance.

5. May place surgical confirmation calls in advance of scheduled surgery or procedure date.

6. Serves as a liaison between referring physicians and surgeons for the communication of clinical data and to determine OR scheduling, etc.

7. Collects and distributes appropriate paperwork to internal and external parties to coordinate surgeries.

8. Schedules post-operative follow-up visits with providers.

9.Performs other related duties.

High School diploma. Associates Degree preferred

2 years of surgical scheduling experience.

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $19.02 - $28.53 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
