Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System in Zanesville, Ohio, seeks a Surgery Scheduling Coordinator to serve as the point of contact for the surgery department, coordinating physicians, operating rooms and staff. This role schedules patients for surgery and ensures efficient use of OR time.

You will communicate with anesthesia providers, provide pre- and post-operative information, and maintain documentation while delivering excellent patient-centered service in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of medical procedures and medical terminology.
• Ability to retain information, multi-task, and work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure in a complex and changing working environment.
• Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent computer skills with experience using MS Office, data entry skills.
• Ability to provide outstanding customer service and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Accurately schedules patients for surgery.
• Schedules operating rooms, surgeons and staff for procedures.
• Distributes pre and post-operative information to patient.
• Send and receive fax and email documents, maintain necessary documentation and logs.
• Reviews work processes to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during the assigned shift.
• Performs other functions as assigned.
• Communicates routinely with anesthesia providers and surgery management to ensure effective use of surgery schedule time.
