Job Details

The Surgical Scheduler enhances the patient/customer experience by courteously and professionally scheduling inpatient/outpatient procedures and/or surgeries. The Surgical Scheduler supports the delivery of the Jefferson Experience by emphasizing prompt and courteous treatment of all patients.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  2. Collects and reviews patient insurance information, including obtaining prior authorizations (inpatient and outpatient) and referral information, ensuring all necessary approvals are in place prior to the scheduled surgical procedure.
  3. Completes pre-procedure phone calls and confirms appointment times with patients via telephone.
  4. Provides patients with all necessary pre-operative instructions.
  5. Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security requirements, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards.
  6. Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

Job Description:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Customer service and/or patient-facing healthcare experience preferred.
  • Willingness to provide and support a positive Jefferson Experience for all patients and visitors.
  • Ability to process and interpret data.
  • Ability to multitask while managing a time-sensitive workload.
