Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Michigan's Grand Blanc area is seeking a part-time Surgical Scheduler to join the Surgical Services team. This 20-hour-per-week day-shift role focuses on coordinating operating room schedules and ensuring resources are used efficiently.

You will work with physicians and staff to collect patient data, assign suites and times, enter demographic and billing information in the electronic records system, and reschedule surgeries when needed to handle emergencies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of relevant experience required.
• Surgical scheduling experience preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred.

• Schedule: 20 hours per week, Day Shift, 8-hour shifts with variable start times between 6:00am-11:00am with on-call
• Department: Surgical Services

The Surgical Scheduler coordinates operating room surgery schedules to maximize the efficient use of operating rooms, equipment, and staff. In this role, you will work closely with physician offices to gather the information needed to schedule surgeries in accordance with department guidelines while accommodating physicians' requests and patients' needs. You will assign operating suites and equipment and block times to ensure the most efficient use of resources. Additionally, you will ensure that all necessary demographic, billing, and insurance information is accurately entered into electronic medical records and coordinate with Patient Admitting as needed to prevent delays in scheduled surgeries. You may also reschedule surgeries as needed to accommodate emergencies or other unanticipated events.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
• Surgical scheduling experience preferred
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred
