Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a surgical nurse to support the operating room team at University Medical Center in Louisiana. You will prepare patients, manage care before, during, and after surgery, and collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia providers to ensure safety and quality.

Ideal candidates hold a Louisiana nursing license, BLS/ACLS certification, and preferably OR experience. Responsible for documentation, patient teaching, and maintaining a safe care environment.

Qualifications

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification.
• Preferred: Operating room experience

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgery and review history; provide patient care including supplies, medicine administration, positioning, vital signs, and assessments.
• Perform post-operative assessments and health evaluations; document clinical data.
• Monitor post-surgery recovery for pain and complications; assist with infection control and environment of care requirements.
• Coordinate with surgeon and anesthesiologist; educate patients and families.
