Job summary

Kaiser Permanente seeks an RN First Assistant to support the surgeon in the operating room with perioperative duties and patient care. You will work under the surgeon's supervision and collaborate with the OR team to achieve optimal outcomes.

The role requires perioperative nursing experience, completion of an RN First Assistant program, and multi-state licensure as applicable. Strong asepsis, positioning, and hemostasis skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of perioperative nursing experience.
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Complete RN First Assistant program (75 hours clinical).
• Current RN licenses in primary state of work and any required secondary state licenses.

Responsibilities

• See OR Nurse representative duties.
• Assist in the OR with the surgeon, working interdependently to ensure safe operations.
• Act under the surgeon's supervision, performing only authorized functions.
• Coordinate with ASC supervisor on assignments for optimal patient care.
• Apply knowledge of surgical anatomy, asepsis, and infection control.
• Assist in positioning, draping, and exposure of the surgical field.
• Provide hemostasis and tissue handling as directed by the surgeon.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
