University of Colorado Medicine (CU Medicine) is the region’s largest and most comprehensive multi-specialty physician group practice. The CU Medicine team provides business operations, revenue cycle, and administrative services to support over 4,000 physicians and advanced practice providers affiliated with the University of Colorado School of Medicine. These providers deliver expert, compassionate healthcare across primary and specialty care clinics and hospital facilities.

We are seeking a motivated Surgical Provider Education Specialist to join our Audit, Compliance & Education team.

This role is fully remote, and out-of-state candidates are encouraged to apply.

The Surgical Provider Education Specialist will deliver coding and regulatory education to Physicians, Residents, Advanced Practice Providers, and learners involved in billing for professional services. The education will cover coding and documentation requirements as dictated by Federal and State regulations and the AMA. The individual will serve as a liaison among CU Medicine departments, CU School of Medicine departments, and faculty.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct educational sessions for Physicians, Residents, Advanced Practice Providers, and learners on professional services billing.
  • Develop and update training materials, including revisions under the guidance of the Education Manager.
  • Follow up with trainees post-training to assess needs and provide additional education as necessary.
  • Collaborate with administrators, physicians, and managers to resolve documentation issues and training requests.
  • Stay informed of current healthcare industry trends and changes.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field, or relevant work experience.
  • At least 3 years of education experience, preferably provider education.
  • CPC or CCS certification required; CPMA certification is a plus (must be obtained within 1 year of hire).
  • Surgical experience is required; cardiology experience is highly preferred.
  • Excellent public speaking skills and the ability to communicate effectively with large audiences.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
