Job Description

About the Surgical Preservation Coordinator

This role is equal parts science, service, and heart. If you're looking for a meaningful, hands-on career where your technical expertise directly saves lives—this is the opportunity for you. Join a team that works with urgency, compassion, and unmatched clinical precision. Become a Surgical Preservation Coordinator and help carry hope into the operating room.

As a Surgical Preservation Coordinator, you'll be on the front lines in the operating room, working shoulder-to-shoulder with hospital OR staff, transplant surgeons, and surgical teams during one of the most critical moments of the organ donation process. You’ll be scrubbing in, preserving life-saving organs, and ensuring every recovery is handled with precision, care, and purpose.

Every decision you make, every organ you package, and every device you operate directly impacts the lives of recipients waiting for a second chance. You’ll be the technical and clinical expert that surgical teams rely on to ensure the viability of each donor organ—and that can mean the difference between life and death.
In this role you will be in the operating room helping to coordinate the surgical recovery of donor organs after neurological or circulatory death. You will ensure every recovery meets federal regulations, hospital protocols, and Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) policies.
Organ Preservation & Packaging

Prepare and manage critical preservation equipment and supplies before every recovery.
Package and label organs for transplant with precision and urgency.
Handle organs with utmost respect and technical skill to maintain transplant viability.
Pulsatile Preservation

Operate specialized pulsatile perfusion machines to preserve kidneys post-recovery.
Support both local and out-of-state transplant teams to improve kidney function and utilization.

Research and Heart for Valves Recovery

Support the recovery of organs and tissues for medical research and heart valve transplantation.
Help advance science while providing healing opportunities for multiple recipients.

Living Kidney Donation Support

Collaborate with transplant centers to package and label kidneys from living donors.
Play a crucial role in supporting living donation—a powerful and life-affirming gift.

Administrative duties
Attend monthly Organ Recovery Services (ORS) meetings to stay aligned and connected.

Assist in cleaning and restocking the clinical work area and maintaining equipment readiness.
Provide OR in-service education to hospital teams, ensuring best practices and strong relationships.

Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work extended hours as needed.

Will require travel throughout the state of Arizona (via company vehicle or on rare occasions, small aircraft)

Scheduling: 7, 12-hour shifts per two-week period. 4 weekend days required per month. Seeking a team member primarily for mid-shift (~11:00 am - 11:00 pm) with intermittent day shift (7:00 am - 7:00 pm) coverage.
