Job summary

Pain Care, LLC is seeking a Pre-Op Medical Assistant/Triage MA to handle both administrative and clinical tasks. You will prepare patients for surgery, assist with preoperative care, and participate in triage across ASC and clinic settings when needed.

Responsibilities include chart preparation, history taking, vital signs, venipuncture, IV insertions, and ensuring patient safety and privacy under HIPAA. The role supports physicians and nurses in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; CMA or LPN preferred.
• IV certification or veniputure experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA and infection control procedures.
• Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment with attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and proactive problem-solving.
• Empathy toward patients and commitment to confidentiality.
• Flexibility to travel between clinical locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient charts for upcoming visits and surgeries, ensuring all necessary information is available.
• Conduct patient interviews to gather medical history, check vital signs, and measure weight and height.
• Set up and maintain treatment rooms, ensuring they are clean and organized.
• Collect and log laboratory specimens accurately.
• Assist with venipuncture and IV insertions.
• Present patients’ medical information to healthcare providers before examinations or surgery.
• Safeguard patient information in compliance with HIPAA and secure medical records.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and assist with preoperative preparation (NPO status, medication adjustments, driver for post-op care).
• Monitor and maintain surgical instruments and medical equipment (fridge temps, glucometers).
• Assist nurses with patient recovery and discharge as needed.
• Perform triage by assessing symptoms and coordinating follow-up actions or referrals.
• Ensure sterilization and safe handling of instruments.
• Support the medical team with additional duties as assigned.
