Job summary

Mountain Park Patient Care Center in New Haven, Connecticut is seeking a full-time Surgical Physician Assistant to join our Liver Transplant department, providing inpatient and outpatient care and participating in liver and abdominal transplant procedures. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop care plans, perform assessments, and support discharge planning.

The ideal candidate holds a PA degree, current certification, and CT license; transplant experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat pre- and post-operative patients with liver and abdominal transplant needs, ensuring high-quality, tailored care.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, and interpreting normal and abnormal findings.
  • Perform or request appropriate diagnostic studies, such as imaging or laboratory tests, interpreting results to inform treatment decisions.
  • Prescribe medications in collaboration with supervising physicians, following formulary protocols and ensuring compliance with state regulations.
  • Facilitate the seamless coordination of care between inpatient and outpatient services, ensuring continuity and effective transitions for patients.
  • Engage in patient education, offering counseling sessions to explain treatment options, care plans, and preventive measures.
  • Work with the healthcare team to optimize patient throughput, organizing discharge planning and follow-up appointments.
  • Provide on-call support during specified times to manage urgent patient needs and consultations.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our Surgical Physician Assistant will primarily focus on a diverse patient population undergoing liver and abdominal transplantation. Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies or a related field is required.

Compensation and Benefits
