Qualifications

Job Details

Purpose: In collaboration with supervising physicians, provides for theexpansion of individualized healthcare services by diagnosing andtreating adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Operating Room based Physician Assistants will primarily workassisting in the cardiovascular operating room.
  • Obtains patient history and performs assessment viaobservation, interview, and examination. Orders, performs andinterprets diagnostic studies. Performs health assessments,screening, and patient care.
  • Provides direct treatment and management of conditions viaprescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers orcommunity resources.
  • Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregiversconcerning health conditions, treatment options and communityresources.
  • Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes inaccordance with specific specialty area standards and networknursing policy.Participates in orientation and education of staffand students.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications

  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience maybe substituted as appropriate.

Salary Range

$140,000+ depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility

Regular staff who have been employed in their current position forthe last six continuous months are eligible for openings beingrecruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, toinclude both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Staffwho are promotion/transfer eligible may apply for positions withoutsupervisor approval.

Retirement Plan Eligibility

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement Systemof Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours perweek and at least 135 days in length. This position has the optionto elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS,subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135days in length.
