Job summary

UCLA Health is seeking a Hospital Laboratory Technician 2 to support Surgical Pathology Reporting offices in Southern California. You will manage slide inventories, receive/sort slides, and pull for Tumor Board and education.

Offsite warehouse pickups and biohazardous waste packaging are part of the role. You will work with faculty, patients, couriers, and vendors; perform daily slide transport; handle tissue requests for trials, and accession cases for special stains and EM.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years in an Anatomic Pathology laboratory.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with Epic or similar Laboratory Information System.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull palletized boxes.

Responsibilities

• Manage slide inventories and biohazardous waste packaging.
• Receive, sort, and file microscopic slides.
• Pull slides for Tumor Board, conferences and education.
• Visit offsite warehouse to pull materials and package waste.
• Provide service to faculty, patients, couriers and vendors.
• Perform daily departmental runs to deliver slides.
• Process tissue requests for clinical trials and ancillary testing.
• Release surgical pathology specimens to patients and manufacturers.
• Accession pathology cases for add-ons and special stains.
• Coordinate with patients, OR Scheduling and clinical teams for bone marrow aspirations.
• Perform general office tasks and scan/digitize slides.
• Provide coverage at Santa Monica and West Valley offices.
