Job summary

UCLA Health in Los Angeles is seeking a Hospital Laboratory Technician 2 to support Surgical Pathology Reporting offices. You will manage slide inventories, handle biohazardous waste and coordinate with pathology teams to ensure accurate specimen processing.

This role requires at least 2 years in an Anatomic Pathology lab, a high school diploma, and experience with Epic or a compatible LIS. You must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and be able to cover Santa Monica or West Valley

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an Anatomic Pathology laboratory.
High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED or HiSET).
Familiarity with safe handling and packaging requirements for pathology materials, including glass microscopic slides and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue.
Experience working in Epic or an equivalent laboratory information system.
Must lift up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 1200 lbs. and be able to stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

Manage microscopic slide inventories and prepare packaging of biohazardous waste.
Receive, sort, and file microscopic slides.
Pull slides for Tumor Board, conferences, education, and pathologist review.
Visit offsite warehouse to pull materials and package waste for transport.
Release surgical pathology specimens to patients and manufacturers.
