Job summary

Duke University Health System Clinical Laboratories is seeking a certified or certification-eligible Pathologists' Assistant to support surgical pathology services in a state-of-the-art laboratory. The role includes specimen triage, gross examination, and supervision of trainees, with primary duties at Duke Raleigh Hospital.

Candidates should have a Pathologist Assistant degree (BS/MS), and certification within 12 months of hire; one year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Pathologist Assistant degree (BS or MS) from an accredited program.
• Certification by AA Pathologist Assistants within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Select and identify tissue for microscopic study with proper fixation.
• Perform gross examination of surgical specimens and document findings.
• Coordinate with pathologists on tissue sections and diagnoses.
• Photograph specimens for teaching and documentation, maintaining records.
• Assist in autopsies and training of staff and residents.
