Job summary

Qualifications

• Degree in Pathologist Assistant program (BS/MS) from an accredited program.
• Certification by the American Association of Pathologist Assistants within 12 months of hire.
• 1 year of experience in pathology assistance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Select and identify tissue for microscopic study and determine fixation.
• Triage specimens, dictate gross findings, and refer sections for review.
• Maintain records of dissections and dictations and assist in reporting.
• Perform procedures like frozen sections and decalcification as needed.
• Photograph specimens for teaching and documentation; maintain records.
• Assist pathologist with eviscerations and training interns/residents.
• Remove organs or tissues for specialized study; manage supplies.
• Perform other duties related to surgical pathology as assigned.
