Role Overview:

This position involves receiving, triaging, and supporting tissue and cytology specimens within a surgical pathology laboratory. Responsibilities include assisting with frozen sections, bone marrow, and fine needle procedures, as well as providing clerical support and equipment maintenance.

Key Duties

• Accessioning, labeling, and documenting specimens to ensure proper identification and integrity.
• Assisting with frozen sections by operating a cryostat, processing specimens, and coordinating results with physicians.
• Supporting autopsies by preparing supplies, reviewing documentation, and processing autopsy cases.
• Assisting with procedures like fine needle aspirations and bone marrows, following protocols for accessioning and transport.
• Providing clerical support, triaging calls, troubleshooting specimen issues, and maintaining equipment and records.

Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent; 6 months of laboratory experience handling specimens.
• Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills, including familiarity with Word and Excel.
