Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Silver Spring, MD, seeks a part-time Physician Assistant II (PA-2) PRN to provide surgical first assist duties across multiple specialties and to manage postoperative care under supervision. The role requires MD licensure in Maryland, ARC-PA certification, and prescriptive authority.

The PA-2 PRN participates in rounds, documents care, and collaborates with surgical teams to optimize patient outcomes. A minimum of 2 years surgical PA experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from ARC-PA-certified PA program.
• Pass PANCE and PANRE when applicable.
• Maintain Maryland PA license.
• Qualify for prescriptive authority (CDS/DEA).
• Minimum 2 years surgical PA experience or 1 year surgical + 2 years non-surgical.
• Ability to work in operating room and inpatient units.
• Proficient in bedside procedures including incision and drainage, central line, chest tube, PICC, arterial/venous access.

Responsibilities

• Provide First Assist in the OR for at least 2 surgical specialties and 2 complex specialties as assigned.
• Perform daily postoperative rounds and coordinate ongoing patient care.
• Complete admission H&Ps, daily progress notes, orders, and discharge documentation.
• Support patient care coordination with the supervising and attending physicians.
