Job summary

Falmouth Hospital Association in Massachusetts–Falmouth is seeking a perioperative PA or NP to provide surgical services in the OR and related settings. The role includes first assistant duties for elective subspecialties, ED evaluations, and inpatient care coordination with the attending surgeon.

Expect ACLS/BLS certs within 3 months, and DEA registrations for prescribing. Schedule features rotating days, weekends, and long shifts as described, with competitive pay based on full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Certified PA or licensed Nurse Practitioner approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) of the American Medical Association
• 2 years surgical experience, including first assistant in OR preferred
• ACLS certified within 3 months of position.
• BLS
• US Department of Justice and Massachusetts’ Controlled Substance DEA Registrations are required for prescribing practitioners

Responsibilities

• Provide medical services to general surgical patients in the OR.
• Assist for surgical subspecialties such as ENT, Urology, and Gynecology for elective cases.
• Provide first line general surgical evaluation and treatment including physical examination for ED patients.
• Prepare patients for evaluation and treatment by an attending general surgeon; ensure medical clearance.
• Provide services for general surgical inpatients; respond to nurses’ calls; expedite discharges; document.
• Collaborate with Hospital Physician Service physicians in coordinating admissions and medical management.
• Provide post-operative care in local Skilled Nursing Facilities including wound debridement and education.
• Maintain documentation and billing records; maintain certifications and FH medical staff privileges
