Job summary

Inova Health is seeking a dedicated Perioperative Support Specialist 1 for the Woodburn and Inova Fairfax Hospital systems. This full-time day shift runs Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm, with occasional support to Inova Fairfax Hospital as needed.

The role focuses on equipment setup, instrument packing, case preparation and seamless OR operations, within a supportive team environment. BLS certification is required within 3 months and healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Year(s) of experience: One year in healthcare setting or inventory/equipment management.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) via American Heart Association within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Assists with gathering, installation, removal and cleaning of equipment using OR schedule to anticipate requests.
• Packs instruments and sterile supplies for cases to ensure efficient setup of surgical procedures.
• Prepares cases for emergency, add-on and scheduled procedures with completed case cart.
• Accesses OR computer system and selects preference cards independently as needed.
• Places returned and new supplies/instruments in correct locations.
• Monitors supply levels and reports deficiencies to Perioperative Support Supervisor.
