Inova Surgery Center - Woodburn is seeking a dedicated Perioperative Support Specialist 1 to join the team. This Full-time Day Shift runs Monday-Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm. The role also provides support to Inova Fairfax Hospital as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in healthcare setting or inventory/equipment management.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support certification expected within 3 months of start date.

Responsibilities

• Assists with gathering, installation, removal, and cleaning of equipment using the operating room schedule to anticipate requests.
• Gathers and packs instruments and sterile supplies for scheduled and added cases for efficient procedure setup.
• Prepares for emergency, add-on, and scheduled cases with completed case cart.
• Accesses OR computer system and selects preference cards as needed.
• Places returned and new supplies in correct locations and monitors supply levels.
• Reports deficiencies to Perioperative Support Supervisor.

Perioperative Support Specialist Job Responsibilities:

• Assists with the gathering, installation, removal, and cleaning of equipment while utilizing the operating room schedule to anticipate requests.
• Gathers and packs instruments and sterile supplies for scheduled and added cases to provide efficient procedure set up of surgical cases.
• Completes case preparation for all emergency, add-on, and scheduled cases as evidenced by the presence of a completed case cart.
• Independently accesses the OR computer system, correctly selects the preference card(s) and prints as needed as evidenced by lack of assistance needed during the process.
• Places returned and new supplies and instruments in the correct location as evidenced by their proper placement.
• Monitors supply levels and obtains needed supplies or reports deficiencies to Perioperative Support Supervisor as evidenced by the lack of unreported missing items.
• Additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education:High School diploma or GED equivalent.

Years of Experience: One year of experience in healthcare setting or inventory/ equipment management.

Certification: Basic Life Support via American Heart Association within 3 months
