Overview

Surgical Oncologist – MaineHealth is seeking a fellowship-trained, full-time surgical oncologist to join its well-established team in Portland, Maine. The surgeon will be a member of the Division of Surgical Oncology, Section of General Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery, which includes 12 full-time surgeons. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team with medical oncology, radiation oncology, and other specialists in the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network. A clinical interest in cutaneous oncology and melanoma, sarcoma, and peritoneal disease is preferred. The MaineHealth Cancer Care Network supports robust clinical and translational research efforts, with membership in NCORP and the NCI cooperative groups.

MaineHealth is an integrated care system delivering state-of-the-art care across a network that cares for over 8,000 new cancer patients each year. The cancer programs have grown significantly and exceed 80% market share in Maine. The programs are academically affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine, and the selected candidate is expected to secure an appointment at the appropriate rank at Tufts University School of Medicine. Maine Medical Center (MMC) serves as the flagship of MaineHealth’s system and has 750 licensed beds, a Level I Trauma Center, and the state’s leading tertiary care status. MMC supports residents and fellows in multiple programs; teaching and mentoring residents and medical students from MMC-Tufts program is part of this role.

Qualifications
