Job summary

Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville seeks a Surgical Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) First Assistant to join the OR team. The role collaborates with a multidisciplinary care team and provides both first and second assist roles, with responsibilities in pre-op assessment, operative support, and post-operative documentation.

The candidate should have NP/PA certification and ideally 1 year of surgical PA experience.

Qualifications

• PA/NP licensed and credentialed for surgical practice.
• 1 year of Surgical PA experience strongly preferred.
• Open to ICU and OR with hybrid model.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document health history and perform focused examinations.
• Provide first-assist to surgeon in operative setting.
• Support preoperative and postoperative care and patient education.
• Order, perform, interpret, and document relevant diagnostics.
• Coordinate referrals and collaborate with multidisciplinary team.
