Job summary

Queen’s Health System in Hawaii seeks a Surgical Intensivist / Trauma / General Surgeon to provide emergency surgery and trauma coverage within a Level I trauma center setting. The role includes roundings, consultations, and close collaboration with surgical, anesthesia, and nursing teams.

You will lead in-house trauma care and SICU patient management, with opportunities to participate in robotic and minimally invasive procedures as part of a high-volume surgical service.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine or EC FMG certification.
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii.
• Board certified or board qualified in General Surgery.
• Surgical Critical Care Fellowship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides emergency surgery/trauma call coverage, including assessment, surgery if needed, consultation, rounding and follow-up of patients.
• Provides in-house services as scheduled by the Medical Director or designee.
• Serves as the attending physician for his/her own patients in the SICU and as a consultant when requested.
• Evaluates patients in the SICU and assists in transfer decisions and management.
• Provides call coverage for Emergency Department and general surgery consults and admissions.

Education

Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine

Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii

Board certified or board qualified in General Surgery
