Job summary

Camp Lowell Surgery Center is seeking an Insurance Verifier to join our front-office team. The role ensures accurate insurance information, verifies benefits, and obtains necessary authorizations before scheduled procedures. Strong communication and medical billing knowledge are essential.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in insurance verification or medical billing, familiarity with EMR systems, and the ability to prevent delays or denials. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of experience in insurance verification or medical billing, preferably in a surgical or outpatient setting.
• Knowledge of major insurance carriers including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial plans.
• Strong medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 knowledge.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with EMR and scheduling systems (NextGen, Epic or similar).
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to scheduled procedures.
• Obtain pre-authorizations and pre-certifications from insurers.
• Confirm patient benefits including deductible, co-pay, and out-of-pocket amounts.
• Communicate financial responsibility to patients and collect or arrange payments.
• Coordinate with schedulers, clinical staff, and billing to ensure timely submission.
• Input insurance data into the EMR system accurately.
• Contact patients, insurers, and referring offices for clarification or follow-up.
• Identify and resolve insurance-related discrepancies before the date of service.
• Maintain documentation of verification and authorization processes.
• Stay updated on insurance requirements and changes in coverage policies.
