Job summary

The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for an inpatient Surgical Intensive Care Unit role. This full-time position supports critically ill patients, coordinating care, assessments, and family communications in a high-acuity setting.

Responsibilities include maintaining patient records, coordinating referrals, and collaborating with case managers and other health professionals.

Qualifications

• Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: Valid RN license.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: knowledge of clinical nursing care procedures, strong communication, interpersonal abilities, and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating treatments and interventions for patients.
• Educates patients (and possibly family members) on condition, medications, and adherence to treatment plans.
• Ensures patient safety and coordinates referrals to services inside and outside the unit.
• Maintains accurate patient records and assists with admissions and scheduling.
• Functions as a preceptor in accordance with UMMC guidelines.
• Participates in nursing councils, hospital committees, or task forces to improve care.
