Job summary

UMMC in Jackson, MS is seeking an experienced RN to provide inpatient care in the Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit. The nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, coordinate admissions and referrals, and communicate with patients and families about treatment and conditions.

The role requires an active RN license, strong clinical nursing knowledge, teamwork, and proficiency with hospital computer systems.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• Knowledge of clinical nursing care procedures and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating treatments and interventions for patients.
• Educates patients and families on condition, treatment, and medication schedules.
• Ensures patient safety.
• Coordinates referrals to other services within and outside unit.
• Maintains accurate patient records.
• Functions as a preceptor per UMMC guidelines.
• Reports patient issues to supervisor as appropriate.
• Serves on nursing councils or hospital committees to improve patient care.
