Job summary

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is seeking a Surgical First Assistant for the Night shift in Kansas. The role involves preparing surgical suites, selecting instruments, and assisting surgeons to ensure safe, efficient procedures.

The candidate will maintain aseptic technique, support patient positioning, and manage instrument counts. Relevant certifications and 2+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equiv required.
• Associate degree preferred.
• BLS and CSA/CSFA certification requirements per facility policy.
• Experience as Surgical First Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in setting up operating suites per surgeon preference cards.
• Selects appropriate surgical instruments and supplies.
• Maintains aseptic technique throughout procedures.
• Assists with patient positioning and safety during surgery.
• Performs instrument counts and supports the circulator as needed.
• Coordinates with surgical team to ensure patient readiness and comfort.
