Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Certified First Surgical Assistant to join the Operating Room Plastics and Gynecology team in Nashville, TN. The role supports the surgeon with tissue manipulation, retraction and suctioning during procedures, while maintaining sterile conditions and patient safety.

You will help control the flow of cases, customize the OR setup to match surgeon preferences, and ensure efficient, safe turnovers between surgeries. A strong emphasis on teamwork and precision is essential.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 30 days of hire date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certified First Surgical Assistant required prior to hire date.
• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience or Associate's/Technical degree or 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.

Responsibilities

• Elite Surgical Partnership: assist with tissue manipulation, retraction and advanced suctioning.
• Operational Excellence: manage OR rhythm, customize the suite for surgeon preferences and ensure sterile turnarounds.
• Precision Anatomy Access: position patient and stabilize equipment to optimize exposure while prioritizing comfort.
