Job summary

Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assistant to join the Perioperative Services team. The CST will serve as First Assistant to the surgeon, assisting with positioning, prepping, draping, hemostasis, and tissue handling under supervision.

May also perform as a Surgical Technologist when not first assisting. Full-time, day shifts with 12-hour duties; sign-on bonus of $20,000 and relocation bonus up to $10,000 available based on distance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved discipline OR completion of a surgical assistant training program (military or civilian).
• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Registration with the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners.
• Preferred certifications: NBSTSA CST; NCCT TS-C; NSAA; NCCSA; ABSA.

Responsibilities

• Assist with room preparation, setup and cleanup.
• Assist with patient positioning for safe access to the operative site.
• Maintain a surgically clean environment to reduce infection risk (asepsis).
• Initiate intra-operative first-assisting behaviors.
• Additional duties may be assigned.
