Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved specific discipline OR successful completion of a surgical assistant training program.
• 1 year of relevant work experience.
• Registration with the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners.
• Preferred: NBSTSA CST – National Board of Surgical Technologists and Surgical Assistants (NBSTSA) CST.
• Preferred: NCCT – TS-C – National Center for Competency Testing, Tech In Surgery.
• Certifications: CSFA, CSA, CSA- and SA-C as listed in the role.

Responsibilities

• Certified Surgical Scrub Tech/First Assistant in the operating room.
• Assist surgeon on procedures with hemodynamics, suturing and retracting.
• Assist OR staff as requested.
• Adhere to infection control standards and patient safety policies.
