Job summary

Firelands Health is seeking a Surgical Assistant to support the operating surgeon in the care of patients during surgery and to perform selected duties. The role requires CSTFA or CRNFA or RN First Assistant certification and a minimum of four years of operating room experience.

You will maintain asepsis, assist with instrument handling, tissue management, and wound closure, and ensure case readiness to facilitate timely starts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited program and certified as CSTFA or CRNFA or RN First Assistant.
• Minimum of four (4) years related experience in the Operating Room.
• Strong attention to details and high degree of persuasiveness.

Responsibilities

• Assists the operating surgeon in patient care during surgery and performs duties as directed.
• Scrubs in surgery, maintains homeostasis, tissue handling and wound closure.
• Prepares cases with correct equipment and supplies for timely starts.
• Supervises case opening, positioning, catheter placement, prepping and draping for smooth flow.
