Job summary

Norton Healthcare, Inc. seeks a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) to work under the surgeon’s supervision. The role requires sterile technique and solid knowledge of anatomy and physiology during procedures.

The CSFA will hold retractors, suction and sponge the operative site, apply dressings, provide hemostasis and suturing. Credentialing must be completed before functioning in this role; on-call services may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have hospital and/or payer credentialing completed before functioning in this role.
• Credential must include CSFA, CSA, SAC, or MD.
• One year as a surgical assistant.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Hold retractors during surgery.
• Suction and sponging the operative site.
• Apply dressings after procedures.
• Provide hemostasis and suturing.
