Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Beaumont, TX seeks a Surgical Assistant to support the surgeon across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative duties under supervision.

Requirements include High School Diploma, graduation from an accredited Surgical First Assistant program or nursing program, BLS, and CST First Assistant certification; 2 years surgical tech experience preferred. ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical First Assist Program, State Board accredited Vocational School of Nursing, or Graduate of School of Surgical Technology required.
• Certification in BLS is required; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Assist surgeon under direct and indirect supervision during preoperative, intraoperative, and post-operative procedures.
• Facilitate safe positioning of patient per surgeon's preference and procedure.
• Assist with incision, exposure, hemostasis, tissue handling, and dressing application.
