Job summary

Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assistant for per diem, day shifts. The role includes intraoperative support, exposure, hemostasis and closure, plus preoperative and postoperative tasks to enhance patient care.

Successful candidates will hold a recognized surgical assisting certification, have extensive OR experience, and maintain BLS certification. Responsibilities are performed under surgeon supervision and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Certification from a recognized surgical assisting program or military program.
• Current certification as Certified Surgical First Assistant by a recognized body.
• Proficiency in major vascular, thoracic, open heart, orthopedics, OB/GYN and general surgery.
• Five years’ acute care OR scrub experience preferred.
• BLS certification with American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon with exposure, hemostasis, closure and intraoperative tasks.
• Support preoperative and postoperative duties to ensure patient care.
• Perform duties under surgeon direction and hospital policy.
