Job summary

Capital Medical Group in Washington, DC, part of Independence Physician Management (IPM) and a UHS subsidiary, seeks an experienced Medical Assistant to support the Surgery ENT practice. The role provides high-quality clinical and administrative support to patients and providers in a busy ambulatory setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduation from an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program required.
• Current BLS/CPR/AED certification required.
• Certification and Registration as a Medical Assistant required.
• Minimum of one year of Medical Assistant experience required.
• Two to three years experience of general patient care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and/or registered nurses by taking and recording patient histories, height, weight, vital signs.
• Prepares patient for examination and for various specimen collections.
• Administers oral and injectable medications as prescribed by the physician.
• Assist physicians with minor procedures; proficient with sterile technique.
• Explains tests and post-op instructions to patients.
• Triage calls, schedules radiology and other tests, and communicates results to providers.
• Performs wound care, sterilization, and handles inventory and supplies for the clinic.
