Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center is seeking a Surgical Endoscopy Tech to prepare and process flexible scopes for high-level disinfection, and to transport patients to and from the OR/PACU. The role requires adherence to infection control standards and state regulations.

Responsibilities include scope handling, aseptic setup, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and routine unit support. Must have a HS diploma and BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire.
• On-the-job training program for patient care and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination and distribution of flexible endoscopes and related items.
• Transport surgical patients to and from nursing units or PACU with ASEPTIC technique.
• Maintain clinical scope equipment under perioperative services.
• Post-OP teardown of surgery suite as needed.
• Assist with OR/Endoscopy prep and supplies management.
• Clean and disinfect reusable patient care equipment per IFUs.
• Restock scopes, accessories, and supplies.
• Plan scope turnaround needs based on schedule.
• Return items to designated storage locations and maintain clean areas.
• Clean equipment, containers, and transport bins.
• Record missing or damaged scopes/accessories; manage inventory and repairs.
• Transport linen and biohazard materials per policies with PPE.
• Perform daily/weekly/monthly cleaning tasks in clinical areas.
• Assist in routine unit operations and communication; answer phones professionally.
