Job description

Hourly wage for a Surgical Assistant ranges from $20-25/hour dependent on education, experience, responsibilities and performance. Effective wage range for this position (base wage plus value of PTO, paid holidays, bonuses, benefits and more) extends up to $38/hour!

About us

AZPerio is looking for a qualified Surgical Assistant in the Valley to join our growing practice. The Surgical Assistant is an integral part of the team. Core responsibilities include assisting with checkups and surgical procedures related to gums, tissue, and bone as well as operating secondary and tertiary equipment and tools required for a given procedure. The Surgical Assistant is a critical member of the AZPerio team that is responsible for assisting with surgeries under the supervision of the managing doctor at the respective locations in Ahwatukee and Gilbert.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Graduate
• CPR certification, X-ray certification, and required OSHA certifications, which can be obtained following employment.
• Knowledge of basic dental terminology, infection control, and emergency response procedures.
• Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in computer and keyboarding.

Primary Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in all tasks and responsibilities in the surgical department and provides technical assistance when needed.
• Analyzes internal processes to recommend and implement procedural or policy changes to improve operations.
• Ensures that accountabilities for all clinical staff at their location are executed as expected.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by clinical team leader.
• Demonstrates knowledge of, supports, and implements company mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions and confidentiality standards.
• Any other relevant duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge and understanding of dental surgery and associated procedures, terminology, and techniques, including periodontal instruments and implant surgery.
• Knowledge of patient screening, charting and medical history procedures, and documentation.
• Knowledge of CPR and emergency procedures.
• Knowledge of all job responsibilities in the clinical department.
• Knowledge of office software, including DSN, Dexis and digital imaging software.
• Superior knowledge of operating systems.
• Knowledge of exceptional customer service standards.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment that is well-lit and clean.
