Job summary

Kitchen Guard of Phoenix is seeking an experienced Surgical Dental Assistant to join our growing periodontal practice in Phoenix, AZ. You will assist during periodontal and implant procedures, prepare treatment rooms, maintain infection control, and support patients through the surgical process.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of dental assisting experience, excellent communication, and the ability to work calmly in a fast-paced clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the periodontist during periodontal, implant, and surgical procedures
  • Prepare treatment rooms, surgical trays, instruments, and materials
  • Maintain strict infection-control and sterilization protocols
  • Take quality dental radiographs and CBCT scans
  • Assist with anesthesia and surgical procedures
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
  • Provide post-operative instructions and patient education
  • Monitor and support patients throughout surgical procedures
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Ensure operatories are properly stocked and prepared for each procedure
  • Welcome and establish rapport with patients
  • Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after treatment
  • Clearly communicate post-operative instructions
  • Anticipate patient needs and provide compassionate care
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Work closely with the periodontist and front-office team to ensure smooth patient flow
  • Communicate effectively with referring dental offices when appropriate
  • Help maintain an organized, efficient clinical environment
  • Participate in team meetings and ongoing training
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow through consistently
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, team-oriented culture

Responsibilities
Clinical & Surgical
  • Assist the periodontist during periodontal, implant, and surgical procedures

What We’re Looking For
Required:
  • Minimum 3 years of dental assisting experience
  • Strong clinical and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred:
  • Periodontal or oral surgery assisting experience
  • Experience assisting with dental implants
  • Experience with IV sedation; DANCE certification
  • Familiarity with periodontal charting and dental imaging
  • Experience working in a referral-based specialty practice
