Job summary

OU Health is seeking a Clinical Support Assistant for the Surgical Specialty to provide direct patient care under RN supervision. The role emphasizes monitoring patient status, following orders, and assisting with admissions, discharges, and transfers.

The position requires a HS Diploma or GED, and a current BLS certification. No prior experience is required, and opportunities to contribute to a caring care team are available in a full-time daytime schedule.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• No experience required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required on hire.
• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to maintain effective working relations with others.

Responsibilities

• Under RN supervision, monitors patient health status and implements the care plan.
• Carries out physician and nursing orders within scope.
• Takes and records vital signs (BP, temperature, pulse) and weight.
• Performs blood glucose monitoring and telemetry setup/monitoring.
• Collects specimens and assists with sterile procedures.
• Performs ostomy care, wound care, and suctioning as assigned.
• Transports patients as needed and assists with admissions/discharges/transfers.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and restocked with supplies.
