Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL, seeks a Surgical Assistant to support pre- and post-operative patient care within a busy OR environment. Under surgeon supervision, you will assist with catheter insertions, draping, instrument handling, and maintaining a sterile field while ensuring patient safety and efficiency.

Requirements include Surgical Assistant Certification, CPR/BLS, a high school diploma (Bachelor’s preferred or foreign medical graduate), and at least 1 year of SA

Qualifications

• Surgical Assistant Certification and CPR/BLS certification required.
• Experience: 1 year SA experience within healthcare environment.
• Education: High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred or foreign medical graduate.

Responsibilities

• Positions and transfers patients pre/post-operatively using proper body mechanics.
• Maintain licensure and BCLS certification; monitor patient safety.
• Assist with catheter/line insertion, draping and prepping.
• Ensure sterile field and proper handling of instruments and sharps.
• Assist surgeon with exposure, tissue handling, and suturing as needed.
• Maintain aseptic technique and coordinate case time efficiently.
• Participate in hospital performance improvement activities.
