The role requires completing an accredited Surgical Assistant program, holding a surgical assistant certification, CPR/BLS, and a dental X-ray license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program is required.
• Certification as a Surgical Assistant is required.
• Current CPR/BLS certification is required.
• Dental X-ray license (Pano, PA, CBCT) is required.
• Strong organizational and time management skills are essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
• Ability to provide excellent patient care under stressful conditions.
• Professionalism in appearance and attitude is expected.

Responsibilities

• Proper instrument cleaning per infection control protocols.
• Autoclave operation and function.
• Surgical tray setup and instrument identification.
• Room setup/breakdown for IV anesthesia and surgery.
• Seat patient and perform pre-op setup; review charts.
• Assist with nitrous oxide setup and patient comfort.
• Provide post-anesthesia monitoring and emergency readiness.
• Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling and charting.
• Maintain EMR notes and ensure accurate documentation.
